The Nexmo Dashboard Gets a New Look

As a reflection of our commitment to continually improve the user experience for our customers, we are very excited to introduce a new design for the Nexmo Dashboard. The new look and feel employs the latest standards in user experience (UX) and design to provide a modern, polished web experience that is 100% responsive and pixel perfect.

We implemented the design based on a world-class design framework composed of a library of UX building blocks that can be assembled and guided by clear standards. This will ensure we produce a consistent standard of great design and delightful user experiences. With our framework in place, we will be able to reuse design components from the library to bring enhancements to the Dashboard faster as the design evolves.

Existing customers need only log into their accounts to experience the new Nexmo Dashboard. Those who are new to the platform will need to create accounts first.

Let’s highlight some of the key design enhancements we’re proud to rollout to customers.

Dashboard Design Changes

Existing customers may need to take a moment to familiarize themselves with the new layout of the Getting Started guide, as the new design is quite different from the prior one. However, the underlying information architecture hasn’t changed.

Navigation Bar

The navigation menu has pivoted from a horizontal banner across the top of the page to a vertical panel on the left-hand side. The top-level menu items also have been demarcated with easily recognizable icons and users have the option to collapse the menu. These changes leave more space in main screen area for additional task-oriented content, giving us the flexibility to use the space in more productive ways.

Each menu item can be expanded to view all the options for that particular aspect of the Dashboard. For example, users will find SMS reporting under SMS menu item.

Payments Flow

The payments structure is very similar but all the components, such as modules and pop-ups, have been updated in accordance with our design framework. Interactions have as well. For example, the process involved in making a payment now has a progress bar to indicate where in the process the user is.

Component Reuse

An example of the component reuse principle we’ve employed is the Settings page. Similar to the Payments pages, it has largely retained the structure of the prior design but its components now feature our new design. Note the optimized header fonts, rounded corners, and tighter element structure of the new Settings page and Add User module in the screenshots below.

More to Come

As we incorporate our design framework going forward, customers can expect to see design and UX enhancements like these rolled out on a regular basis. Some of the improvements we have in the pipeline include a cleaner analytics interface that will make retrieving values from any given time/date easier. We are also working on a simplified search flow for different products by consolidating search criteria.
